Professional Qualifications

Is anyone currently studying alongside work for a profoessional qualification? If so, what is the qualification and why do you think it will support your role? Interested to see what's out there and make connections if others are studying for the same qualification!

I have just finished the CIMA Business Certificate and have begun working towards the Professional Qualification. I work as a solution advisor specialising in Finance, Planning and Analysis - having the financial acumen and background has already helped me to gain customers trust and confidence in my work. Most of my colleagues are charted accountants so I think it will be important for me to finish these studies.

At the start of my career I was finishing my uni degree alongside working and after that I promised I would never do it again but recently I have been looking at the CIPD qualification. I spend me entire day talking to and advising HR professionals on whilst I've read books and attended courses at the Josh Bersin academy I really think this could add another string to my bow.

How did you find studying for the CIMA alongside working and how did you manage your time between the two?

That's great Yassy! How long do you think the CIPD qualification would take?

I am finding it quite hard to balance study and work at the moment - not for lack of time but lack of motivation! I am able to book exams as and when I want to, which makes it difficult to hold myself accountable. I also don't know anyone else doing the same qualification - I think I would find it useful to have a benchmark and someone to study alongside!

Yeah I think it definitely helps having someone in the same boat as you so you can encourage and motivate each other! The foundation course for the CIPD is around 9 months so trying to balance that with the ups and downs of a project can be tough as well which is probably what is putting me off right now
