Hello everyone!

I am really excited for a Sustainability stream to be launched as part of the Young Professional Network in ERP Today! More details about the stream will be launched in the coming weeks!

In the meantime, I would be really interested to know your perspective around the following questions...

"How can the ERP industry really make a difference to our sustainability mission and positively impact the COP26 signed objectives?"

Very happy this stream is being launched! Protecting the planet is only possible if, globally, people and companies work together and towards the same goal. As more sustainability tools become available within ERP we should collaborate to fully understand how they can be best utilised.

This seems like a relatively small and easy to achieve point, but I am constantly astounded by how much waste is produced at the office!! Surely if everyone pulled together we can address this as an easy win. How many offices must there be in the UK (and further afield!) that are in the same position? Can we make the tech industry an example for others to follow?

ERP is well on the way to supporting the sustainability drive. We need to see carbon credits and other environmental measures on financial statements as standard and use these metrics as KPIs for success. It's not just about profit anymore.

Has anyone seen the Baton Simulations ERPSim sustainability game? I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

I'm very glad this forum has been created, sustainability is a must now as we approach the 'global warming point of no return' that I am hearing more and more. I'm part of the CSR team at my company and we do litter picking to help out the local landscape. This has been quite successful actually, although I have to drag my colleagues out to do it, they end up really enjoying it and it ends in real good spirit.

We are also looking at introducing a cycle to work scheme, because we realised during lockdown that we saved 6.25 metric tonnes of CO2 being released into the atmosphere (and we're a company of only about 50 employees).

I'm planning to speak to our office provider to see if they can use a green energy provider, so hopefully I can work my ways here!

When researching how we could become a more sustainable office I found that  deleting unwanted emails or files is a winner but online meetings generate lots of CO2 if the cameras are on, so we try to turn them off on internal calls now. (it means I can stay in my pyjamas too...)

I'd love to hear of any other tips or info that anyone has to help become more sustainable!

I have just checked out Baton Simulations ERPSim sustainability game and it looks interesting, I would like to know more about how it works and calculates the sustainability numbers. It's always easier to achieve a goal by gamifying it!
